Our placements provide an opportunity to gain insight into how local services help people live healthier lives. You will work alongside experienced professionals and learn about services that support individuals and communities to improve their health and wellbeing.
What you may experience
Depending on the placement length and your interests, you may have the opportunity to support or observe activities within a range of public health services, including:
- Stop Smoking support services
- Weight management programmes
- Falls prevention initiatives
- Community health promotion campaigns
- Data collection and evaluation activities
- Administrative and service coordination tasks
You may also have the opportunity to attend team meetings, learn about how services are planned and delivered, and explore the wide range of careers available within public health.
Placement types
We offer a range of placement opportunities including:
Short-term placements
- Typically 1 week
- Ideal for college work experience students age 18+
Longer placements
- Several weeks or months depending on availability
- Suitable for college or university students seeking practical experience in public health
Who can apply
Our placements are open to:
- College and sixth-form students aged 18 or over
- University students studying health, public health, social care, or related subjects
- Individuals interested in exploring a career in community health and wellbeing
